Rustam Minnikhanov Advocates for Increased Cooperation with OIC Countries

15 May

Rustam Minnikhanov, the head of the Republic of Tatarstan, stressed the importance of expanding cooperation with all countries in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during a meeting with participants of the VIII Forum of Young Diplomats of OIC countries. The meeting is part of the ongoing International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum."

"At the 15th summit in Gambia, where I led the Russian delegation, we made significant strides. Despite challenges, Russia, with over 20 million Muslims, is actively engaging and increasing contacts. However, we haven't reached all OIC countries yet. We need to be more proactive," Minnikhanov stressed.

The head of Tatarstan emphasized the role of young diplomats in fostering contacts between Russia and representatives of business and sports within OIC countries. He also highlighted the ongoing active work with all youth directions of the OIC.

The Forum of Young Diplomats of OIC countries serves as a platform for discussions among young diplomats from Russia and Islamic countries, featuring participation from public and political figures, government authorities, and international relations experts. Since its inception in 2016, the forum has seen the participation of over 250 young diplomats from more than 40 countries.

The International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2024" is being held at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center, featuring over 120 thematic sessions with the involvement of Russian and foreign experts.
