Rais of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov condemned the act of burning the Quran in the Swedish capital of Stockholm.
"During these important days for Muslims throughout the world, we have once again witnessed the heinous desecration of the Holy Quran. It is deeply disturbing that these acts of vandalism have become regular and take place with the official permission of the authorities.
As Chair of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World", I strongly condemn this inhuman act. How would the authorities of Sweden react if their Constitution were burnt somewhere?
In Russia, thanks to the efforts of our President, representatives of all religions live in peace and harmony. Vladimir Vladimirovich's firm stance that disrespect of the Quran in Russia is a crime is vivid testimony to his deep respect for Islam. And the mutual respect for Christians and Muslims and treating them like brothers strengthens the unity of the people of Russia.
I am sure that millions of Muslims on these festive days pray for unity, peace, and prudence in one voice."
