Rustam Minnikhanov Participates in “Ramadan Tent” Charity Project in Moscow

19 March

The Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, took part in the traditional charity project “Ramadan Tent”, held annually in Moscow.

This cultural and charitable initiative, organized by the Religious Board of Muslims of Moscow with support from the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia and the Moscow Government, is set up each year during the holy month of Ramadan at the Memorial Mosque on Poklonnaya Hill.

The 20th annual Ramadan Tent, running from February 28 to March 30, 2025, is themed “Memory is Stronger than Time” and is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Additionally, charitable initiatives in support of participants in the Special Military Operation (SMO) and their families are planned.

Alongside Rustam Minnikhanov, notable attendees included Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin and Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia Ravil Gainutdin.

“Ramadan is a month of good deeds and spiritual purification, bringing together people of different nationalities and teaching us mercy and compassion,” said Minnikhanov.

He emphasized that this year’s program honors war heroes and those serving in the Special Military Operation.

“The sons of our Fatherland courageously defend the country’s interests in the Special Military Operation. We are grateful to our heroes for their bravery and loyalty. May our prayers during Ramadan be heard—for swift victory, the recovery of the wounded, and the peaceful rest of fallen defenders,” he said, greeting SMO participants who attended the event.

Minnikhanov also expressed deep gratitude to those providing humanitarian aid to soldiers.

“Your support plays a vital role in achieving victory,” he emphasized.

Reflecting on Tatarstan's international engagements, Minnikhanov noted that last year Kazan hosted the 16th BRICS Summit, welcoming representatives from 36 countries and 6 international organizations.

“Tatarstan received high praise from national leadership and international guests for successfully organizing such a large-scale event,” he said.

In May 2025, Kazan will once again host the Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum, fostering economic cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world.

Minnikhanov highlighted federal and diplomatic support for the forum and recalled that Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin chairs its organizing committee.

Additionally, Kazan was honored to be named the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World for 2026, a title granted during the 13th Conference of Islamic Culture Ministers in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

During the Tatarstan evening in the Ramadan Tent, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin emphasized the courage and unity of Russian Muslims in the Special Military Operation.

“Muslims of Russia stand shoulder to shoulder with all Russian peoples, displaying courage and selflessness. Their bravery and unwavering duty reflect our nation's unity and strength,” he said.

He also highlighted the spiritual significance of Ramadan, calling it a time of fasting, purification, and unity, where centuries-old traditions of mutual assistance and mercy are passed down through generations.
