Ryabkov: Russia in Close Contact with Iran Regarding Middle East Situation

03 October

Russia is maintaining close contact with Iran concerning the situation in the Middle East, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told reporters.

“We are in the closest contact with the Iranian side regarding the current situation,” Ryabkov said, emphasizing that the two countries share a strong history of cooperation in various fields. “I believe that now is the time when these relations are particularly important,” he added.

On the evening of October 1, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a massive attack on Israel, using ballistic and hypersonic missiles. Tehran reported that 90% of the missiles hit their intended targets. Israel, however, claims that around 180 missiles were fired, most of which were intercepted. The Israeli General Staff has promised retaliatory strikes, while Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warned in Hebrew that future attacks on Israel would be even more extensive.
