Russia's position at the talks with the US on security guarantees in Geneva is unyielding, the US side should be prepared to make concessions, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on the air of the First Channel.
"The American side should prepare for compromises. The Russian side came here with a clear position, which contains a number of elements, in my opinion, quite clear and formulated so clearly, including at the highest level, that there simply can be no deviation from these our approaches," he said.
Negotiations between Moscow and Washington on the Russian draft treaty with the United States on security guarantees as well as the agreement on security measures between Russia and NATO member countries will begin in Geneva on January 10. The Russian interdepartmental commission, which includes representatives of the Foreign Ministry and Defense Ministry, is headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov and Deputy Defense Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin.
