Sarkisyan: only Russia can help end the conflict in Karabakh

14 October 2020

Armenian President Armen Sarkisyan believes that Russia is the only country that can not only mediate a settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh but also contribute to ending military clashes between the opposing sides. He said this on Tuesday on the Dozhd TV channel.

"A truce is not an easy thing to do. We should all thank the Russian side in this regard," he said. - "Russia has good relations with Armenia, close relations with Azerbaijan, and that's why Russia is the country that can be a mediator not only in the negotiations, not only participate as a co-chairman of these negotiations but also Russia is the country and probably the only one that could be a mediator to stop the military actions on the line and behind the line.

At the same time, the President emphasized the contribution of French leader Emmanuel Macron to the settlement in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, Sarkisyan stressed that the efforts of Europe, including those of France, are not enough to solve the conflict.
