Saudi Arabia bans its citizens from visiting Mecca and Medina

Saudi Officials banned pilgrimages to Mecca  and Medina. As noted in the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the KSA, this measure is part of the campaign to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.


"Based on the desire of the Kingdom's government to support the world's efforts and the efforts of international organizations to prevent the spread of coronavirus, in continuation of the decision to ban the Commission of Umrah and visiting the mosque of the Prophet (peace be upon him) in Medina, a ban on the Commission of Umrah also applies to Saudi citizens and residents of Saudi Arabia", RIA Novosti quotes, in particular, the statement of the Saudi Interior Ministry.


Earlier, the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia reported that the country registered one case of coronavirus of a citizen who returned from a trip to Iran through the neighboring Kingdom of Bahrain.


In China, according to the latest information, 80,409 confirmed cases of the disease have been registered. The number of people infected worldwide is 95,169.


Cases of infection were found in 76 countries, and 214 people died from the coronavirus outside of China. The total number of victims of the virus is 3,284.
