Saudi Arabia is interested in a Russian medicine against coronavirus

The Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia is interested in a medicine against  new coronavirus produced in Russia, and is in contact with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) on the issue of fighting the pandemic. the head of the Fund Kirill Dmitriev said, RIA Novosti reports.


The first Russian medicine against COVID-19 "Avifavir" produced by RDIF and "Himrar" was approved by the Ministry of Health.


At the beginning of June, the first batches of "Avifavir" will be sent to Roszdravnadzor to get a conclusion on issuance.


"We have held several video conferences with the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia on interaction on coronavirus in many areas, including this medicine," the Agency quotes Dmitriev as saying.


"We see significant interest from the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and believe that cooperation between Russia and Saudi Arabia on this, and in general, Russia's interaction with other countries is extremely promising. This is an absolutely open position, " he said.


After the patent is granted, Russia, according to the head of the RFPI, is going to "share absolutely with the whole world" modifications and standards of treatment.


"This is an international story. We believe that Russia's cooperation with many countries on this medicine is very important, " Dmitriev said.


The first deliveries of the medicine to Russian hospitals are expected on June 11. It is planned to deliver 60 thousand of "Avifavir in June to the Russian hospitals.
