Saudi Arabia is interested in sharing experience with Russia in organizing major tournaments

Minister of Sport of Russia Oleg Matytsin met with the Minister of Sport of Saudi Arabia, Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki bin Faisal Al Saud during his working visit to Riyadh to discuss cooperation in sport. It was reported on the official site of the Ministry of Sport of Russia.


The parties discussed the perspectives and main directions of cooperation in sports and emphasized the necessity to activate this direction. Also, the parties talked about the development of mass sport and involvement of people in regular physical culture and sports as well as the issues connected with preparation and realization of strategic program documents of the sphere.


The parties agreed on steps to strengthen contacts, prepare an action plan for realization of the 2003 Memorandum and establish a separate workgroup on sports within the framework of the joint Russian-Saudi inter-governmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.


The Minister of Sports of Saudi Arabia emphasized the interest in exchange of experience with Russia in the sphere of organization of large international tournaments. Also at the meeting were discussed the plans for the development of individual winter sports in Saudi Arabia.


Matytsin stated his readiness to work together with partners on the development of student sports and the implementation of sports exchange programs.
