Saudi Arabia has expressed strong approval of the recent phone call between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the prospect of hosting a potential summit between the two leaders in the kingdom.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia values the constructive conversation held on February 12, 2025, between President Donald Trump and President Vladimir Putin and welcomes the announcement of a possible summit in Saudi Arabia," the statement read.

The ministry also emphasized Saudi Arabia's ongoing commitment to facilitating peace between Russia and Ukraine, noting that the kingdom has hosted numerous discussions over the past three years to support conflict resolution.

On February 12, Trump also spoke with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. After his conversation with Putin, Trump announced plans to immediately launch talks aimed at resolving the Ukraine crisis. The Kremlin confirmed that both leaders agreed to maintain direct communication, including the possibility of face-to-face meetings. Trump later suggested Saudi Arabia as a potential venue for such discussions.
