Saudi Arabia to allow entry for people vaccinated with Sputnik V from January 1

06 December 2021

Saudi Arabia joined more than 100 other countries approving entry of individuals vaccinated with the Sputnik V as a result of joint work between the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) with the support of the Kingdom's Ministry of Investment.

"RDIF announces that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted approval for entry of individuals vaccinated with the Russian Sputnik V vaccine starting from January 1, 2022. Saudi Arabia has become one of 102 countries that can be visited by individuals vaccinated with the Sputnik V vaccine. This decision was preceded by active work of RDIF with the Ministry of Health of Saudi Arabia and the Kingdom's Ministry of Investment," follows the report.

It is noted that this decision has made it possible for Muslims from all over the world vaccinated with Sputnik V to participate in the pilgrimages to Islam’s holiest sites in the cities of Mecca and Medina.

Earlier, the Ministry of Health of the Kingdom reported that the authorities of Saudi Arabia made it a prerequisite for work during the annual Hajj to have a vaccination against COVID-19, registered by the WHO. The WHO has not yet approved the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.
