Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Thursday discussed the process of evacuating civilians from Sudan, where fighting between the army and rapid support forces (special forces) continues. This was reported on the page of the Saudi MFA on Twitter.

During the phone conversation, the minister assured the secretary-general that Saudi Arabia would continue to evacuate foreign nationals who have requested Riyadh to do so.

They also discussed efforts to end hostilities in Sudan, stem violence and protect civilians, as well as several aspects of humanitarian cooperation between the UN and Saudi Arabia.

Since the start of the conflict, Saudi Arabia has evacuated nearly 8,000 people from Sudan. According to the latest figures from the Saudi MFA, which reports daily on the number of evacuees, warships of the Western Fleet have transported 247 nationals of the kingdom and 7,592 citizens of other countries, including Russia, from Port Sudan to Jeddah.
