Saudi Foreign Minister Casts Doubt on Israel's Strategic Goals in Gaza

16 January

During a World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud openly questioned the feasibility of Israel's proclaimed strategic objectives in its conflict against the Palestinian movement Hamas.

"Frankly speaking, we don't see any real signs that the strategic goals Israel claims to have can be achieved," he said.

Prince Faisal further emphasized the need for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, as well as "laying the groundwork for a credible process that would allow the Palestinian Authority to initiate peace proceedings in the region."
