The Councils of Heads of Government for both the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member states, along with the Intergovernmental Council of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), are scheduled to convene in the capital of Kyrgyzstan on October 26-27. This announcement was made during a briefing in Bishkek by Zhyldyz Kozhobekova, the Deputy Director of the Department of Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic.
"On October 26, Bishkek is set to host the 22nd meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government and the regular meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government," she announced. She went on to mention that the following day, a meeting of the EEU Intergovernmental Council is also scheduled to take place in Bishkek.
During these meetings, participants will discuss a wide spectrum of topics, including trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation. Specifically, the gathering of CIS heads of government is expected to address preparations and arrangements for commemorating the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War, efforts related to the reclamation of uranium mining territories, collaboration within the energy sector, and the establishment of sports competitions under the auspices of the Commonwealth.
On October 26-27, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council of the People's Republic of China and Prime Minister Luvsannamsrain Oyun-Erdene of Mongolia are also slated to visit Kyrgyzstan, with the signing of numerous agreements designed to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Nurlan Ismailov, deputy head of the Interior Ministry's Public Security Service, announced during the briefing that various restrictions will be implemented in the capital during the heads of government meeting. He emphasized, "For an event of national significance, approximately 4,000 law enforcement officers will be tasked with ensuring public safety and order in the city, and temporary traffic restrictions will be imposed." Ismailov encouraged citizens to plan their routes in advance during these days or consider refraining from travel. Moreover, classes in schools and universities in Bishkek will be held online on October 26-27.
