SCO Secretary-General Emphasizes Need for Enhanced Legal Cooperation Among Member States

SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming emphasized the importance of enhancing practical collaboration in legal and judicial matters among member states during the opening ceremony of the 10th meeting of justice ministers from SCO member countries held in Shanghai.

 

"We must fully utilize the existing cooperation mechanisms to strengthen our practical collaboration in legal and judicial domains. This entails expanding expert exchanges, cultivating a cadre of legal and judicial professionals aligned with the SCO's unique features, and offering more robust legal and judicial support for the organization's development," he emphasized.

 

The SCO secretary-general also emphasized the importance of enhancing the mechanism of justice ministers' meetings within the SCO. He stressed the necessity of offering comprehensive legal support to SCO member states for their social and economic progress. Additionally, he highlighted the significance of expanding practical legal collaboration across various sectors, including the economy, trade, finance, transportation, customs, science, technical innovation, and intellectual property protection. These steps are crucial for consolidating the achievements in legal and judicial cooperation within the organization.

 

Konstantin Chuichenko, the Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, is representing Russia at the meeting.
