Russian President's Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Senegal's Ambassador to Moscow Jean-Baptiste Thiathie Tine discussed Tuesday preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit in summer 2023, the Russian MFA said in a statement.
"It was stated that Moscow and Dakar were determined to deepen political dialogue and coordinate principled positions at the UN and other international platforms. In this context, some aspects of preparations for the second Russia-Africa summit in summer 2023 were touched upon," the diplomatic office said.
The sides also addressed topical issues of further development of traditionally friendly Russia-Senegal relations, including the expansion of mutually beneficial trade, economic, investment and humanitarian ties.
The meeting was held at the request of a Senegalese diplomat.
The first Russia-Africa summit and economic forum was held October 22-24, 2019, in Sochi under the motto "For Peace, Security and Development." The Roscongress Foundation was the operator to ensure the organization and conduct of the events.
According to Oleg Ozerov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian MFA and Head of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum Secretariat , the topic of food security will be among the top priorities at the second Russia-Africa summit.
