Secretaries of CSTO Collective Security Treaty Organization meet in Yerevan

17 June 2022

A meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) member states is being held on Friday. The meeting is being hosted by Armenia, chairing the union this year.

Representatives from all six countries currently in the organization, including Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, as well as his colleagues from Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - Armen Grigoryan, Alexander Volfovich, Gizat Nurdauletov, Marat Imankulov and Nasrullo Mahmudzoda - are taking part. CSTO Secretary-General Stanislav Zas also speaks at the meeting.

The event is held in a narrow format and plenary session. The press service of the association reported earlier that there will be a discussion of "measures to neutralize challenges and threats to the security of CSTO member states".

The Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils was submitted the Plan of joint training of administration bodies and formations of forces and means of the CSTO system of collective security in 2023 and some other documents for approval.

The Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils (CSTO) is an advisory and executive body of the CSTO to coordinate cooperation of member states in ensuring their national security.

The CSTO is an international security organization of six member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. The treaty establishing the association was signed on May 15, 1992 in Tashkent by the heads of Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan (is not a member of the CSTO since 2012).
