Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov as part of his working trip to Moscow. The meeting took place at the Russian MFA building.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov presented Rustam Minnikhanov with an official award - the Foreign Ministry's badge "For Contribution to International Cooperation". The award is conferred for active joint work with the Russian MFA on developing bilateral cooperation, promoting the Russian language and culture, implementing projects to support compatriots and other merits.
The Russian MFA also said Tatarstan and Rustam Minnikhanov personally do a lot to strengthen ties between the countries and contribute to Russia's foreign policy in general. First of all, said Sergey Lavrov, it concerns the activities of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic world," which Rustam Minnikhanov heads. The way the group works now, despite difficulties in the international arena, is a great merit of Rustam Minnikhanov, stressed the foreign minister.
The two sides discussed issues related to the implementation of joint projects and interaction of the Republic of Tatarstan as one of Russia's regions with international partners. They also touched upon strengthening mutually beneficial relations with the countries of the Islamic world and the tasks of further cooperation within the framework of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World".
