Sergey Lavrov: strengthening interfaith harmony is essential for global stability

Strengthening interfaith harmony is particularly important in maintaining global and regional stability, reads the greeting message of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to the participants of the V meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic world", which is held today in Ufa. The message of Foreign Minister was read by Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.


"Today, when international relations continue to fever, the strengthening of interfaith harmony is especially in demand to maintain global and regional stability. Russia, where representatives of different religions have lived in peace and harmony for centuries, is ready to share this positive experience with foreign partners," Sergey Lavrov said in his message.


Russian Foreign Minister also stressed that Russia appreciates fruitful cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the interests of finding effective solutions to current problems.


The topic of this year's meeting of the GSV is " Interfaith harmony:   the experience of Russia and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)".  The event is timed to the 50th anniversary of the Organization, as well as to the 90th anniversary of the outstanding Russian political and public figure, one of the founders of the GSV "Russia – Islamic world" - Yevgeny Primakov.
