Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the session of the Conference on Disarmament, which will be held on March 20-21 in Geneva.

According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, such topics as arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation and multilateral dialogue in the field of global security and stability will be discussed at the event. The Russian side intends to come up with a proposal to develop an international convention to combat acts of chemical and biological terrorism. Another priority for Russia is the prevention of an arms race in outer space.

In addition, Russia is in favour of extending the Treaty on the Reduction of Strategic Offensive Arms and the Treaty on the Elimination of Medium and Short Range Missiles. However, this is possible only in case of a settlement with Washington.

«Russian proposals to resolve the situation remain in force. But we will not knock on the closed door», - underlines, in particular, in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
