Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has arrived in Tajikistan, where he will hold negotiations with the country authorities. According to the press secretary of the Head of the Defense Ministry Rossiyana Markovskaya, RIA Novosti reports that the main topic of the talks will be the modernization of the republic’s armed forces and the functioning of the 201st Russian military base.
“These issues are planned to be discussed today with the Minister of Defense of the Republic, Mirzo Sherali”, Markovskaya mentioned.
Also, Sergey Shoigu will be hosted by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
During the negotiations, the issues of equipping the Russian military base stationed in the country with new types of weapons, as well as the modernization of the Tajikistan army will be touched upon.
