Several districts were completely closed in Mecca

In connection with the coronavirus outbreak, a number of areas of Mecca are completely closed. The corresponding decision, as reported by the media, was made by the Saudi authorities, with reference to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Kingdom.


Entry and exit from these areas are prohibited. In addition, people are not allowed to walk around the territory for the whole day.


Earlier, Mecca and Medina, where the main Muslim shrines are located, were closed to pilgrims.


According to official data, 1299 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in Saudi Arabia, and 8 people died.


There are now more than 720,000 confirmed cases of infection in the world and more than 34,000 deaths.
