Experts of the St. Petersburg Politics Foundation have compiled a rating of the most mentioned politicians, whose career peak was in the period from the 1980s to 2012. The first President of Tatarstan, State Councilor, co-founder of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia-Islamic World" Mintimer Shaimiev is at the top-list. He took the third position (7,2 thousand mentions in the media). The first and second positions were given to the President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev (38,8 thousand) and the former Mayor of Moscow Yury Luzhkov (11,2 thousand) respectively.
Also among the top-ten most mentioned politicians of the past are former President of Bashkortostan Murtaza Rakhimov, former Governor of Sverdlovsk region Eduard Rossel, former Soviet Prime Minister Nikolai Ryzhkov, etc.
