Shoigu arrived on a working trip to Azerbaijan

Russian Defense Minister General of the army Sergey Shoigu arrived on Tuesday with a working trip to Azerbaijan, where he will take part in the opening ceremony of the "Sea Cup" competition, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation told reporters.


"Russian Defense Minister General of the army Sergei Shoigu has arrived in Baku, where he will take part in the opening ceremony of the "Sea Cup" competition of the Army international games - 2020," the message reads.


According to the military department, the Russian Minister will meet with Azerbaijani Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov during the visit and will be received by President of the Republic Ilham Aliyev.


The international competition "Sea Cup" is held for the sixth time, and Azerbaijan is hosting this competition for the fourth time.


This year, the Russian team will perform on the small artillery ship "Makhachkala" of the Caspian flotilla. The Sea Cup 2020 will be held at the Puta naval base of the Azerbaijani Navy. The sailors will have to show their skills in performing artillery fire on sea and air targets, anchoring the ship and mooring the barrel, rescue training, as well as in the fight for the ship's survivability.
