Shoigu discussed safety of navigation in the Black Sea with Turkish Defense Minister

Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has discussed by phone with Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar the security of navigation in the Black Sea in connection with the solution of the problem of grain exports from the territory of Ukraine. This was reported on Tuesday in the military department of the Russian Federation.


"At the initiative of the Turkish side on June 7, 2022, telephone talks were held by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu with the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey Hulusi Akar," the ministry said.


It is noted that the main focus was an exchange of views and assessments of the situation in Ukraine and Syria. "The defense ministers discussed in detail the security of navigation in the Black Sea in connection with the solution of the problem of grain export from the territory of Ukraine," the defense ministry added.


The military leaders also noted the importance of continuing close cooperation in Syria to maintain long-term stability in the region. Russian-Turkish contacts on these issues will continue, the ministry informed.
