Russia attaches special importance to activating contacts with Qatar's military, Russian Defense Minister Army General Sergei Shoigu said at a meeting with Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Khalid bin Mohammad al-Attiyah.
"Taking into account Qatar's significant role in the Arab world, we attach special importance to activating contacts between the defense departments of our countries. I am confident that today's meeting will enhance mutual understanding and strengthen friendly ties between our countries," Shoigu said.
He thanked the Qatari delegation for the visit. "The Moscow conference on international security has become a traditional platform for meetings of defense ministers from different countries, and there is every opportunity here to exchange views on the most acute issues and current problems of regional security," the head of the Russian military department said.
In turn, the Qatari minister of state for defense thanked Shoigu for his reception in Moscow.
