Shoigu: situation in Afghanistan threatens CSTO countries with export of terrorism and drugs

The situation in Afghanistan creates risks of exporting terrorism and drugs to the territory of CSTO states, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Tuesday at an expanded meeting of the military department board.


"The destabilization of the situation in Afghanistan creates risks of exporting terrorism and drugs to the territory of CSTO states. We are closely monitoring the situation and responding promptly to all threats to the military security of the country," Shoigu said.


An expanded meeting of the board of the Russian Defense Ministry was held in Moscow with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin at which, among other things, the future priorities for the development of the army and navy were determined.


The leadership of the Armed Forces, representatives of government agencies and public organizations were invited to the meeting.
