Shoigu: terrorism in the Middle East is the result of attempts to change the legitimate power

30 April 2019

The issues of terrorism, of illegal migration, social degradation and destabilization of entire regions are all the consequence of the claims of individual countries to global domination and attempts to shift the legitimate authorities.

Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu has announced about it at the meeting of the Heads of the Ministry of Defense of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), which is being held in the capital of Kyrgyzstan.

“The events in the Middle East and North Africa have shown that the policy of changing unsuitable regimes and planting development models from outside not only leads to chaos in vast regions, but also results in the growth of real threats, including a surge of international terrorism and huge waves of illegal migration”, Shoigu quoted, in particular.

According to him, it was the claims of individual countries to global domination and the rejection of collective cooperation mechanisms did not make the world more secure. In addition, the conflict potential has increased significantly, there are more problems and crises.

In Minister’s opinion, under these conditions, it is especially important to increase interaction across the whole range of issues that can affect the level of security in the world and in its individual regions.
