Slutsky called the Pentagon's reaction to the publication of the attack in Syria cynicism

The US military has repeatedly allowed civilian deaths in strikes both in Syria and in Iraq and Afghanistan, their reaction to yet another incident that was revealed is cynical. Leonid Slutsky, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs, expressed this opinion in his Telegram channel on Sunday.

Earlier, The New York Times reported that the Pentagon concealed information about the 2019 airstrike in Syria, which led to the deaths of 70 people. In response to the newspaper's request, the ministry said that the bombing killed 80 people, of whom 16 were militants of the "Islamic State" (a terrorist group, banned in Russia) and four civilians, the identity of the remaining victims could not be established, the strike was considered justified.

"And what is the reaction of the American military? Cynicism! Following their cruel maths, the presence of less than 20 fighters is quite enough reason to bomb and kill another 50 people who might have been civilians," Slutsky wrote.

The deputy noted that "this is hardly the first incident of this kind." "Civilians have constantly become a "bargaining chip" and "collateral damage" in the US use of aircraft in Afghanistan, Iraq and now in Syria. And that's only if you take the conflicts of this century," he added, stressing that the world community and American politicians are not responding to these facts.

"However, when Russian troops entered Syria six years ago at the request of the country's legitimate leadership, hysteria broke out in the West, and the Internet was flooded with fakes about alleged casualties among the population during Russian strikes. That's the difference in "worldview". To be more precise - here is the whole truth about the manipulation of public opinion in order to achieve the same "worldview" about "villainous Russia" and "courage of Western democratizers," stated Slutsky.
