Source reports Turkey continues negotiations to extend grain deal

04 July 2023

The Turkish authorities will continue dialogue with Russia and Ukraine to extend the Black Sea grain initiative, which expires on July 17. A source told TASS on Tuesday, commenting on Russian statements that there is not much hope for prolonging the grain deal.

"The dialogue will continue. Turkey is the only country that simultaneously pursues it with both Moscow and Kiev. It has managed to find solutions in the past, particularly when Russia suspended its participation in the deal on October 29 last year following an attack on its military facilities. It is highly probable that the leaders of the two countries will discuss the issue after the specialized structures work it out," the interlocutor said.

According to him, talks aimed at unblocking the export of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers are also being discussed with representatives of the UN and Western countries.
