Speaker of Kyrgyzstan's parliament resigned

Speaker of the parliament of Kyrgyzstan Talant Mamytov announced his resignation on his own volition at a meeting on Wednesday. This was reported by the press service of the parliament of the republic.


"At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh (unicameral parliament of Kyrgyzstan - TASS) today, October 5, Talant Mamytov on his own volition resigned his powers as the speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan. <...> At the end of his speech, Talant Mamytov expressed his gratitude to his colleagues for the trust placed in him and emphasized that the decision to step down was voluntary," reads the statement posted on the parliament's website.


Mamytov, who is an MP of the pro-government Yntymak party, was re-elected speaker of the new parliament in late December 2021. He had also served in the previous parliament since November 2020.
