Special Account Opened in Kyrgyzstan to Collect Funds for Gaza Strip Residents

19 December 2023

A special bank account has been established in Kyrgyzstan, allowing citizens of the republic to voluntarily contribute funds intended to support the population of the Gaza Strip. This announcement was made by the Kyrgyz Ministry of Finance.

"The Ministry of Finance of the  Republic of Kyrgyzstan has established a dedicated multi-currency account to pool funds for assisting the citizens of the Gaza Strip," the statement reads. Individuals and organizations can contribute funds in Kyrgyz soms, Russian rubles, dollars, or euros.

A few days ago, Akylbek Zhaparov, the head of the Kyrgyz Cabinet of Ministers, signed an order to open a special account in the state-owned Aiyl Bank for the purpose of providing gratuitous humanitarian aid to the residents of the Gaza Strip.

In December of this year, the head of the Kyrgyz government also instructed the Ministry of Emergency Situations to purchase food and necessities necessary for the population of the Gaza Strip on the territory of the Russian Federation. The proposal included organizing the delivery of these items to the Palestinian side with the assistance of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with establishing contacts with the Egyptian authorities to facilitate the transfer of the humanitarian cargo to the Gaza Strip.

Kyrgyzstan has already sent a shipment of humanitarian aid to the region this year, including water, food, shoes, and warm blankets.
