Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East visited the Kurdish Autonomous Region of Iraq

During his visit to Erbil, Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov was received by the President of the Kurdish Autonomous Region (KAR) of Iraq, Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister of KAR Masrour Barzani.


During the meetings, the parties discussed a wide range of issues related to the development of cooperation between Russia and Iraq, with an emphasis on enhancing cooperation with Kurdish partners in the fuel and energy, investment and humanitarian spheres.


In addition, they exchanged views on Middle East issues, focusing on the current situation in and around Iraq. The parties noted the importance of consolidating efforts to prevent further escalation of military and political tensions in the region.


Bogdanov, at the same time, confirmed the principled position that there is no alternative to resolving all crisis situations by political and diplomatic methods, through an equal and inclusive dialogue, in strict accordance with international law and the UN Charter.
