Sputnik V released in Kazakhstan was sent to Russia for inspection

A pilot batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V, produced at the Karaganda pharmaceutical complex in Kazakhstan, has been sent to Russia for quality control, the press service of the republic's health ministry said.


The press service of the Kazakh government earlier reported that Prime Minister Askar Mamin visited the Karaganda pharmaceutical complex on Monday, where he gave the start to the production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V.


"A pilot batch of 6,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccines produced at the Karaganda Pharmaceutical plant has been sent to the Russian Federation for quality control," the Health Ministry said in a statement.


The Ministry added that industrial production of the vaccine was scheduled to begin in January 2021. The projected monthly production volume will be at least 300 thousand doses.


According to the government press service, mass vaccination with "Sputnik V" produced in Kazakhstan will start in February 2021. First of all, medical workers, teachers, students, law enforcement officers, the contingent of medical and social institutions as well as representatives of risk groups with chronic diseases will be vaccinated on a voluntary basis. It is planned that 2 million doses of vaccines will be produced at the complex in stages.
