The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) has confirmed the registration of the COVID-19 coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V in Kyrgyzstan, noting that the country has become the fourth in Central Asia to register this Russian drug.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Kyrgyz Health Ministry's press service told RIA Novosti that the Sputnik V vaccine was officially registered in the country.

"Kyrgyzstan has become the fourth state in Central Asia to register the Sputnik V vaccine. Deliveries of the drug will make a significant contribution to ensuring the health safety of the country's residents and preventing coronavirus infection," Kirill Dmitriev, head of the fund, said in a report by the RDIF.

"Sputnik V is one of the world's top three vaccines against coronavirus in terms of the number of approvals received by state regulators, the fund noted.
