Stepashin: the most important thing today in inter-confessional dialogue is the understanding of common threats

15 November 2022

During the conference "Orthodoxy and Islam – Inter-Confessional Dialogue in Achieving Global Peace", Chairperson of the Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society Sergey Vadimovich Stepashin delivered a welcoming speech. He noted that today there is no dialogue, but a conversation between Islam and Orthodoxy on the common goals in the fight against a common evil.

According to Stepashin, the most important thing in inter-confessional dialogue today is an understanding of common threats. In this context, the chairperson mentioned ISIS (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation), which violates moral and ethical standards.

Deputy Chairperson of the GSV, Deputy Chairperson of the Council Committee on International Affairs, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Farit Mukhametshin began his address by saying that the modern world is facing challenges that threaten the security of the world.

"This conference is aimed at preserving the spiritual moral pillars of humanity. Achieving peace through inter-confessional dialogue in this context is very significant," Mukhametshin noted in particular.

The deputy chairperson of the GSV added that the Group of Strategic Vision is a platform for strengthening inter-confessional relations and dialogue, which contributes to strengthening partnership and cooperation.
