Students from Kazakhstan were temporarily banned from entering Russia

07 August 2020

Students from Kazakhstan who study in Russian universities will not be able to enter the Russian Federation yet due to the coronavirus pandemic, the press service of the Embassy of the Republic in Russia reported.

"Currently, entry to students from Kazakhstan studying in Russia is temporarily closed. The Embassy keeps the situation under special control and conducts negotiations with the Russian side. Perhaps next week we will receive a response, which we will promptly report to our resources," the diplomatic mission said.

The Embassy asks citizens to understand the force majeure situation and remain calm. "An emergency situation in connection with the pandemic has developed in most countries of the world," the press service noted.

In Kazakhstan, the state of emergency in connection with the spread of the coronavirus was in effect from March 16 to May 11, but quarantine measures were maintained later. Against the background of the worsening of the epidemic situation, a number of additional quarantine restrictions were introduced from July 5, which should have been in effect until August 2. On July 30, the state commission extended the quarantine measures for another two weeks.

In Russia, according to the Federal operational headquarters for the fight against the coronavirus, 877,135 cases of infection were registered, 683,592 people recovered, and 14,725 died.
