The transportation of Afghan students for full time study in Russia will be organized in the nearest time, Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday, opening a meeting on Afghanistan in the Moscow format.
"We consider the decision to continue Afghan students admitted to Russian universities as full-time students an important step. In the near future we plan to organize their transportation to Russia," he said.
Lavrov noted that the development of education, healthcare and other socially important spheres in Afghanistan under the lack of financial resources requires from the new authorities "energetic efforts and sometimes unconventional decisions. The minister also stressed that Russia would continue to cooperate with Kabul in order to solve "the urgent and pressing issues of the bilateral agenda".
Moscow is also grateful to the Kabul authorities who facilitated the return of Russians to their homeland from Afghanistan.
"We are grateful to the Afghan side for its assistance in the work of local journalists, which allows them to cover internal political events objectively. We are also grateful for the assistance provided for the return home of Russians who found themselves in Afghanistan during the change of power," the minister said.
