Sudan's Rapid Support Force (Special Forces) has issued an accusation against the Sudanese army, alleging that it shelled the Ethiopian embassy in Khartoum. The Special Forces released this statement on their social media page X (formerly Twitter).
"This morning, on Tuesday, October 3, units associated with al-Burhan (referring to the Sudanese army - TASS) and remnants of the former regime targeted the Ethiopian embassy in the Al-Amarat district of Khartoum, resulting in substantial damage to the diplomatic mission's building," the statement reads.
Representatives of the Sudanese army have not yet provided a comment on this information.
The situation in Sudan escalated in April due to disagreements between al-Burhan and Dagalo. The main contradictions between them revolve around the timing and methods of forming a unified armed forces, as well as the question of who should hold the position of commander-in-chief of the army. Al-Burhan favors a professional military leader for the role, while Dagalo insists on an elected civilian president taking up the position. Clashes between the two factions began near the military base in Merowe and in the capital on April 15. According to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, more than 4,000 people have lost their lives in Sudan as a result of the conflict that erupted.
