Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Court annulled the sentences against Sadyr Zhaparov, who was appointed acting prime minister by the parliament on Tuesday, AKIpress reports.
"The Judicial Collegium has granted the request to cancel the previously issued judicial acts against Sadyr Zhaparov and sent the case to the Prosecutor General's Office for pre-trial proceedings," the agency was told in court.
According to the Kyrgyz media, ex-deputy Zhaparov was convicted and was serving his sentence in prison for organizing in 2013 of an illegal rally in Karakol and hostage-taking of the governor of the region. On Monday, he was released by protesters dissatisfied with the results of the parliamentary elections.
