The Syrian Arab Republic (SAR) aims to intensify and deepen cooperation with Turkmenistan. President of the SAR Bashar al-Assad said this in his congratulatory message on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence.
"Based on the existing friendly relations between the SAR and Turkmenistan, we aim to intensify, deepen and take bilateral cooperation to a new level in the interests of our peoples," the Syrian leader wrote. The Neytralny Turkmenistan newspaper quoted the text of his congratulations on Monday.
Turkmenistan celebrated the 31st anniversary of independence on September 27. The country became an independent state in 1991 when the Supreme Soviet of the Turkmen Soviet Socialist Republic adopted a constitutional law "On Independence and the Principles of the State Structure of Turkmenistan" as a result of a nationwide referendum.
