Damascus is ready for an open and constructive dialogue with Turkey to achieve its goals, provided that it respects the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria. Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of Syria Faisal Mekdad, said this, according to SANA, in his speech at a four-party meeting of Russian, Syrian, Turkish and Iranian foreign ministers, which opened in Moscow on Wednesday.

"Despite all the negativity of recent years, Syria and Turkey will be able to work together with the help and support of Russian and Iranian friends to achieve goals that will serve the interests of the two countries," Mekdad stressed.

The foreign minister noted that the Astana process, which began in 2017, has achieved many positive results in resolving the Syrian crisis. "But now we are in the process of developing a new, different formula, which we hope will be more dynamic in resolving the various issues that concern us," he stressed.

According to Mekdad, at this point, Damascus is seeking to end the illegal military presence on Syrian territory. "This, of course, also applies to Turkish troops, and without progress on this issue, we will stand still and not come to any real results," the minister said. - "The Syrian side will demand and insist on the withdrawal of Turkish forces."
