Syrian aviation authorities have not yet confirmed the fulfillment of the ICAO recommendations for safe flights over the country, the press service of Rosaviatsiya told reporters.

"The Syrian Airspace Agency has not yet confirmed the compliance with the ICAO recommendations on flight safety over the country, the ICAO press service told journalists. <...> To date, no reply has been received from the Syrian side to fulfill the recommendations of the ICAO to ensure security measures <...>," - said the Federal Air Transport Agency.

Rosaviatsiya stressed that it is necessary to get guarantees of safe passage of Russian airlines over the Syrian territory. "Such appeals to the aviation authorities of the SAR in the prescribed manner through diplomatic channels have been sent by Rosaviatsiya," Rosaviatsiya added.

Earlier, in December, iFly flights to Egypt were cancelled due to flight restrictions for Russian airlines over Jordan. The carrier asked Rosaviatsiya for permission to fly over Syria. At the moment, the company has no such permission. The day before it became known that iFly temporarily cancels flights to Egypt due to the lack of an alternative route.
