Syrian Ambassador in Moscow: Russian special operation in Ukraine serves the interests of the people

28 April 2022

Syria is convinced that Russia's special military operation in Ukraine is in the peoples interests, Syrian Ambassador to Moscow Riyad Haddad said on Thursday at a press conference marking the International Al-Quds Day.

"Syria was one of the first countries to support Russia in its special operation in Ukraine, confident that this operation is in the interests of the peoples and corresponds in its goals to the resistance of the peoples of our region to liberation from American hegemony, where our countries have paid a high price, especially the Palestinians," he said.

The ambassador noted that there is an important structural change in the world at the international level as a result of the decision taken by Russia in defense of the people of Donbass, who for years have resisted terrorism, whose methods do not differ from the actions of terrorists in Syria.

The diplomat also stressed that these terrorists have the support of Western countries, which pay lip service to human rights, but in fact carry out "diabolical plans" in all parts of the world.

"And just as Syria, with the support of its staunch allies led by Iran and Russia, has defeated terrorist groups in Syria one after another, so we are witnessing Russia's victories over neo-Nazi groups in Ukraine," Haddad added.
