Syrian authorities pardoned 40 thousand militants

14 March 2019

About 40 thousand members of illegal armed groups received an amnesty from the government of Syria. According to the director of the Organization of National Reconciliation, Yana Haddur, the amnestied militants pledged not to return to participation in illegal armed groups. In addition, according to her, in recent months, 6,000 women who were in the areas controlled by terrorist groups have settled their status with the Syrian government, thereby obtaining the right to a "safe and decent life".

It is worth noting that the Organization of National Reconciliation was established in Syria at the end of last year. It directly reports to the Prime Minister of the country and, among other things, helps people find relatives missing during the war, clarifies the lists of the dead and assists refugees in obtaining legitimate documents.
