Fighting between the Syrian army and Turkish-backed groups is ongoing in the northern Al Hasakah province. Reports from Al Hadath TV channel indicate that Syrian soldiers successfully repelled several dangerous attacks in the Tell Tamer area, resulting in the death of 18 militants. Five Syrian soldiers lost their lives in these clashes.
According to the TV channel, the Syrian Armed Forces command has deployed military reinforcements and armored vehicles to the village of Tell Tawil. This move is in response to pro-Turkish formations attempting to breach the defense line and reach the M4 highway, which connects the western and eastern regions of the country.
In 2019, Ankara conducted a military operation known as Operation Peace Spring in the provinces of Al Hasakah and Raqqa. This operation aimed to establish a 30-kilometer security zone along the Turkish border. While Kurdish forces withdrew their units from the region, sporadic armed clashes between them and Turkish troops, as well as Syrian opposition groups, have persisted. In 2022, due to the looming threat of a new Turkish invasion, the Syrian Armed Forces command sent additional army units to the north of the country at the request of the Kurds.
