Syrian Kurds say they are not ready to fight coronavirus

01 April 2020

The Syrian Kurds have not received assistance from the international community and are not ready to fight the coronavirus, the representative of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Bassam Saker told RIA Novosti.

"The Northern and Eastern parts of Syria are in a very dangerous situation. We need help and support from the international community, but we have not yet received any help or support. Our region does not even have the ability to test for coronavirus, let alone effectively treat or isolate patients," he said, in particular.

Syrian Kurds, according to Saker, have been making appeals for help to the UN, the World Health Organization (WHO) and other international organizations for several weeks, but have not received any response so far.

In the world, according to the latest data, 858 370 cases of COVID-19 infection were recorded in 203 countries. More than 42 thousand people died.
