Syrian MFA: Damascus reserves right to respond to Israeli missile attacks

Israeli air strikes on Syrian territory are increasing instability in the Middle East and around the world, the Syrian foreign ministry said in a message sent to the UN Security Council on Friday, SANA news agency reported.

"Syria declares that it reserves the right to use all legal means in accordance with the UN Charter to respond to the ongoing aggressive acts by Israel and demands that the international community put an end to these treacherous attacks," the document said.

The Syrian foreign ministry draws attention to the fact that "the United States, which patronizes Israel, encourages it to continue its attacks and paralyzes possible measures by the UN Security Council to contain the aggressor, which undermines the prestige of the international community."

Earlier, a Syrian military source told SANA news agency that "an aggressive Israeli attack was launched on the southern outskirts of Damascus from the occupied Golan Heights." According to the source, the attack killed three Syrian soldiers, wounded seven others and caused material damage.

According to the Al Hadath TV channel, the Israeli Air Force attacked arms depots belonging to the pro-Iranian armed militia Hezbollah, which fights on the side of the Syrian army. The strike also targeted a factory on the outskirts of Sayyidah Zaynab that assembled unmanned aerial vehicles. The missile attack on the south of Damascus was Israel's 18th aggressive action against Syria since the beginning of the year.
