Units of the Syrian Armed Forces repelled an attack by militants of the terrorist group Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in the Russian Federation) on Thursday evening. The Arab republic's defense ministry announced this on Friday.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, cited by the SANA news agency, the militants attacked government forces' positions in the Kafr Amma district in Aleppo province. The attack took place during an iftar (an evening meal during the holy month of Ramadan). It is noted that the militants "suffered heavy losses in personnel and equipment," the Syrian military eliminated 11 terrorists, including the leader of the group. There were also wounded among the radicals. The Syrian military removed the bodies of five militants, including foreigners, and seized their weapons and equipment.
There are no reports of casualties or injuries among Syrian Armed Forces personnel.
