In Syria, a terrorist linked to Kurdish organizations was apprehended by the military police of the opposition "Syrian National Army" (formerly known as the "Free Syrian Army"). The individual, identified as Ahmed al-Haq Omer, was preparing to carry out a terrorist attack using explosives against security forces. The newspaper Milliyet reported on this incident.
Omer is connected to intelligence units of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, "People's Self-Defense Forces," and other Kurdish organizations that are banned in Turkey and operate in northern Syria. The operation to detain Omer was supported by the National Intelligence Organization of Turkey.
During a raid on Omer's residence, a remote-controlled improvised explosive device that was primed for deployment was confiscated. Intelligence sources indicate that Omer intended to target Turkish soldiers in Syria and opposition army units within the country. He had received training in explosive engineering and had previously delivered ready-made explosive devices to Manbij multiple times between 2022 and 2023.
